News at Deer Ranch...2008
May 19-24, 2008--Belgian Sheepdog Club of America National Specialty, Wilsonville, OR

Bodhi earned his first RAE leg by going 4th place in both Rally ExcB & Rally Advanced B. Such a GOOD BOY!
Dharma picked up two Rally Advanced legs, with a first place and a 3rd placement, plus
she also earned her 2nd Novice B leg in regular obedience.
During the Best of Breed judging, she was given a Judges Award of Merit. Making the 2nd
cut was exciting, but then when the judge kept her in until the very end, I could barely breath!
Considering the line-up consisted of several of the top Belgian Sheepdogs in the country, to
say I was over the moon is an understatement! Many thanks to everyone who helped me get her ready, and especially to her co-breeder, Lisa, for taking her in for me because I could barely walk, let alone gait her! You guys all ROCK! (photo below courtesy of Kathy Champine)

Best of Opposite Sex both day (judges: Janice Sinclair & Carolyn Herbel),
plus in her first Novice B obedience entry, Dharma picks up her first leg!
Woo hoo!
February 23-24th, 2008--Columbia Agility Team Trial, Canby, OR--NADAC
- Dharma, Bodhi & I head over to Canby for a NADAC trial. Dharma was entered in Tunnelers, Jumpers and Touch-n-Go, while Bodhi was entered in Tunnelers. No Q's for Bodhi, however I bet that not one single person that witnessed our run could say he had anything but a GREAT time! It was hilarious and fun...looks like we'll be chasing that final Tunneler Q a bit longer now!
Dharma, on the other hand, decided to get down to business this weekend! She picked up a 2nd place in Jumpers and 3rd place in Tunnelers (for her 2nd TN-N leg). And, while we did not Q in Touch-n-Go, in my opinion, it was our best run of the weekend. I sent her into the wrong end of the 2nd to last obstacle (a tunnel) which gave us a 20 second fault. Without that minor handling error (that was entirely MY FAULT), we'd have picked up a TNG Q with a 1st place...oh, and she stuck EVERY SINGLE contact. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to getting back into Agility classes & working toward more trials!
January 13th, 2008--Extreme Agility Trial, Auburn, WA--NADAC
- While her other runs this weekend were a bit wild (she is WAY faster than I'd have thought!!), we managed a Q, and a second place in the Tunneler's Class on Sunday. Her time (28.00) was exactly 10 seconds UNDER the standard course time of 38.00 seconds!! Plus, we just had a simply awesome weekend of playing and learning with many other Belgian folks! photo courtesy of Infinite Exposures
